If you aren`t sure what a podcast is, it`s essentially an online radio show. While you can listen to them live, they are also available for download and you can then listen to the show at your leisure. I personally like to listen to podcasts while I do a more mundane task like folding laundry or washing dishes . . . it`s a great way to make the most of your time.
There are podcasts on any topic you can imagine, but since this is a homeschool blog, we`re going to look at a few that are focused on home education or that can be used to supplement your curriculum.
That Mom
Some excellent podcasts for homeschool mothers here. There`s a huge list in the archives that will take you quite a while to get through even if you`re folding laundry for ten!
Radio-Free School
If you`re unschooling your kids, then this could be a very useful podcast to listen to. It offers interesting interviews, tips for parents of unschoolers and even some mini lessons that your kids might enjoy listening in on.
Homeschooling Expert
This site has several audio resources including How to Homeschool an Extrovert and How to Homeschool and Introvert. It`s not a regular podcast, but the audio selections could be very useful, particularly to new homeschoolers.
Mom to Mom Radio Show
This podcast isn`t exclusively for homeschoolers, but it does have a focus on teaching and lessons, as well as other mom related issues.
The following two resources are no longer being updated, but they contain great information that can still be very useful, so I`ve included them here.
Homeschool Habitat
This podcast is actually inactive . . . they aren`t recording any more and the news section is rather out of date, the last podcast was recorded in 2005. However, there are still some excellent topics, advice and mini lessons and you can still download them here.
The Homeschool Dad
For the dads out there who are homeschooling kids, this podcast covers lesson ideas and tips. Unfortunately, it appears to have stopped recording in 2007, but there is still plenty of information there to listen to.
